This is the first in a new series of posts (I think) that will feature a few picks of things to do, see, consume and imbibe for each month of the year. These won’t be just maker-type things, but really whatever seems interesting and worthwhile for the month. If you have any suggestions, of course let me know. Enjoy.

FvF Mixtape #87. The first of these that I’ve heard and I’m definitely hooked. Many, many more to dig into but this one nails the warm weather vibes.

Drinking outside is key element of life in New York. If that sounds alcoholic, just call it ‘cafe culture’ and then it seems legit. This spring I’ll be trying out a few new spots like Night of Joy, and some old haunts like Brooklyn Crab and Spuyten Duyvil. More suggestions at Brooklyn Magazine

Tracking Your Progress

And because we all need balance, Run Keeper. The weather has warmed up which means it’s not only time to start drinking outside, but it’s also time to put the gym membership on hold and start exercising outside too. I’ve been using Run Keeper for about a month now (yep I’m way late to this thing) and have found it to be hugely helpful for motivation. There are a bunch of other apps and I have no idea if they're better or not. Just get yourself an armband, download one of the apps, and go for it.

Getting Out

Every few years the Volvo Ocean Race comes back to the U.S. and this May, very soon in fact, we have the chance to catch it in Newport, which is just about the most fitting place for a stopover.  Expect a party and the chance to meet some of the most amazing athletes in the world.

Staying In

No book has given me a deeper appreciation for the history of New York, the people who built it and of course, the unbelievable engineering marvel that is the Brooklyn Bridge. I’m halfway through The Great Bridge: The Epic Story of the Building of the Brooklyn Bridge, and I can’t put it down.  Do you know what a caisson is?
