Behind the Design: Karasu in Brooklyn

I want to direct your attention to an interview I did with Kevin Greenberg of Space Exploration about the design of his latest project Karasu, over on the WorkOf blog.

I’ve covered both organizations on this site before, and I work with Space Exploration as well right now, so there’s a whole ton of overlap happening here. Karasu, a Japanese bar that Space Exploration designed, just opened in my neighborhood and I couldn’t be happier about it. It’s a dark bar with great cocktails, and a solid selection of old Jazz records that Greenberg picked to suit the mood of the restaurant. Having spent many hours working next to him, I can attest to his great taste in music, as well as design.

Check the WorkOf interview to see way more photos and learn more about the thoughtful design details (handmade screens from Japan, intricate repeating patters, custom-designed lights, etc) that went into Karasu, and if you’re in Fort Greene, of course do stop by.
