Shop Visit: The Lodge

Welcome to your new man cave. The Lodge, a well-established online shop for all things gentlemanly and American-made just opened up a store in the East Village and it’s well worth a visit.

Over the last couple of years, The Lodge has been running primarily online supplemented by the occasional pop-up shop and also a by-appointment kind of shop in Greenpoint, but this new shop at 220 East 10th street (Between 1st and 2nd) represents their first brick and mortar location. This click-to-brick transition is no doubt made possible by the great selection of bags, grooming products, accessories, etc., but also by the demand for quality products from American made brands and makers. This is a good thing to see.

I spoke with Chad Beightol, the owner of The Lodge, briefly I and really admire what he’s doing. We both share the same appreciation for domestically produced goods, buying things that will last and finding out about new lesser-known makers.

Among the products that caught my eye at the shop; bags from Archival and Filson, knives from Santa Fe Stoneworks, this brass Greenpoint key ring, and these candles

I really appreciate the various price points at The Lodge as well. You can get in their and grab a gift for someone, or yourself, for under $30 or drop a few hundred on a beautifully made leather bag. Keep that in mind for this holiday season.

Beightol said he’s been wanting to open a shop in New York for sometime and is also considering a shop in Brooklyn. With the momentum they’ve got going, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it soon.
