This is Rappie Pie
I’m really late to the party on finding out about the great work over at The Perennial Plate. I just stumbled across their new film exploring some of the culinary wonders of the Acadians - the descendants of the french who came over to the maritimes in the 1600s.
I’ve been through New Brunswick briefly on the way to Cape Breton and I can attest to a strong a desire/need for warm comfort food that sticks to your ribs when in those parts. It’s a rugged section of the map that must have made for some really rugged living make it there, especially through a dark cold winter.
But that’s where râpure, or rappie pie, comes in. Watch the video for backstory of the ultimate cold weather comfort food, and check out many more fine films the perennial plate has produced at Perennial Plate.
