James Surowiecki does an excellent job running down the B corp (Benefit Corporation) landscape which is made up of companies like Patagonia, Warby Parker and Etsy.
One surprising benefit of B corps? Talent retention. It turns out people want to work for companies that make money and also do good. And I would argue that this isn’t a millennial thing either (not that Surowiecki argues this), even though we hear a lot about how millennials want to “make a difference” though work etc. People of all ages, in all times have wanted to make a difference. It what makes humans humans, not corporations.
At least now there’s a corporate entity that’s a little more human.
