Sometimes it takes a while before realizing an idea just doesn’t have what it takes. Case in point: The Bennie Railplane, a defunct propeller driven mode of rail transportation.
The system was designed by George Bennie, and a 130-yard section of track was put together in Glasgow Scotland. The idea: to separate slower freight traffic from faster passenger traffic, is one that makes sense, but this plan just didn’t work out.
Regardless, what a strange and cool design.
